Awards 2006
On August 24, Hispanic Magazine held its 15th annual
Hispanic Achievement Awards at the Fairmont Hotel
in San Francisco. This year’s recipients included
Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, ACLU Executive Director
Anthony Romero, Actress America Ferrera, Ruiz Foods’
Chairman and CEO Fred Ruiz, Scientist Dr. Alejandro
Sanchez Alvarado, President and CEO of the Hispanic
College Fund Fernando Barrueta, ABC Anchor John
Quiñones and Col. HEctor L. ColOn. Univision
News Anchor Catalina Garcia was Master of Ceremonies,
and Anthony Romero delivered the keynote address.
Daniel Eilemberg, editor of Hispanic Magazine, delivered
the opening speech, while Mariano Faget, Publisher
for Hispanic Publishing, delivered the closing remarks.
The 2006 Hispanic Achievement Awards were sponsored
by Aflac, Army ROTC, AT&T, Grupo Televisa, Hispanic
Magazine, Prudential Financial, Washington Mutual
and Wells Fargo.
Carlos Figueroa, CEO of the Greater San JosE Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce, presented the Magazine with
a special proclamation from the city of San Francisco,
making August 24, 2006 official Hispanic Magazine
Day in
the city.
