Corporate Retreats: To Free Your Mind, Flee Your Office
Change of place, change of pace. That's the thinking behind a corporate retreat: Free yourself from the office to gain a fresh perspective, boost morale, get the team to work better together, introduce a new vision, think more creatively—or simply get to know each other.

Whether you take your top executives only vs. your whole staff, whether your goal is serious or light-hearted, sometimes you just want to get away—far away—and not just to a hotel or conference center in your nearest city. Your choices from resorts, hotels and teambuilding consultants are mind-boggling: from crime-solving at fake crime scenes in our CSI-addicted world, to grape-stomping, to rodeo and wilderness experiences.

Travel and Rediscover Your Latin Heritage
Your travel agent could suggest several destinations where you could spend a two-week vacation: a beach, a theme park, or a bustling metropolis. And all of those would be wonderful, but just a short detour away from the expected lies the unexpected—little havens in cities, exciting stops just outside the city limits or small enclaves right off the beach that are rife with cultural history and Hispanic heritage.

HISPANIC Magazine took a look at some of these hidden gems in seven states that Hispanics often travel to.

Cruisin'
Whether you are a mini or a mega-mogul, here are four vessels for spending more than your sunday afternoon.

Some people might argue that spending three or more days confi ned to a cruise ship is a bad idea, but the huge boats currently sailing around the world with an almost limitless choice of on-board options prove that the bad idea is staying ashore too long. For the last 10 years, the cruise industry has steadily grown at an 8 percent rate, and last year 144 boats from 19 cruise lines were in operation.

  DESIGN

High Design Little Ones
Watching my niece and nephew grow up sparked a keen and personal interest in the challenges designers face when creating everyday objects for kids. As anyone who shops for them can attest, kids today are more demanding than ever. They keep themselves up-to-date on the latest trends and fashions, and designers want to keep up with them. As a result, in an effort to cater to kids’ every whim, designers have come up with some very innovative and remarkable products.

  HEALTH

Obesity
How you see it, treat it and keep it under control
For many, being overweight is more a social concern than it is a health one. People tend to think of their weight as a matter of appearance, while the health risks associated with obesity remain largely ignored.

Smoke The Gloom of Smoking
Feeling down, exhausted, anxious? The problem could be depression, and according to Norwegian researchers, the cause could be the filthy pack of smokes in your pocket. After conducting an 11-year study that included 1,190 men and women age 18 and older, the research concluded that people who smoke are more prone to major depression than nonsmokers.

The Cult of the Bull: La Fiesta Brava
For its fans, la corrida is, of course, an art rather than a sport. From ancient Crete and Roman bull cults to aristocratic bull jousting on horseback during the Middle Ages, bullfighting evolved into popular spectacle in the 19 th century. Today, bullfighting continues to attract a large following in Spain as well as in Latin America, most notably Mexico and Colombia.
